Once the residence of a noble family from the Sorrento Peninsula, La Tuja Relais Du Parc is now a refined boutique hotel that preserves its history through an architectural narrative rooted in the present, crowned by the surrounding century-old nature.
The residence originally belonged to the noble Cilento family of Naples, who owned several properties along the Sorrento Coast and were also related to the Caracciolo marquises. It is said that, from the early 19th century onwards, the Dimora di Matignano became the setting for dinners and social events hosted by the Cilento family for members of the upper bourgeoisie, with the aim of attracting distinguished figures passing through the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, thereby enhancing the prestige of the family.
After the decline of the noble class and the conflicts of the early 20th century, the Cilento family gradually disappeared from the scene. In 1949, the residence was transferred by the heirs to the Episcopal Seminary of Aversa, before being subdivided and later renovated. In 1956, it reached its current layout and became the property of Dr Manlio Vignola of Naples, who subsequently passed it on to the current ownership.
Today, La Tuja Relais Du Parc combines the historic character of the original mid-19th-century residence with a thoughtful architectural vision, redefining its identity through a Provençal-inspired design enriched with Tuscan touches, and shaping the property as we know it today.
